An Introduction

I am a book nerd. Have been since forever. So I decided to take my vast knowledge of excellent reading material, and make some of it known to the world. Thus, here I am. At this point in time, I plan to post reviews/recommendations/general fangirl rants about books. I shall try to avoid spoilers. Maybe people will actually use this. Maybe it'll just be me keeping track of all the books I read. No matter. If you're reading this, please enjoy.

CPH Internship Week #2: Of Tape and Tacos

My first full week at CPH is complete! It flew by quick as a wink, but it was packed with great experiences. Most of this week was dedicated to decorating two of our large conference rooms for the Miraculous Mission VBS promotional shoot. I spent my days hanging backdrops, blowing up inflatable planets, taping down tarps, and cutting galaxies out of paper. It was tedious at times, but it was all worth it when Friday rolled around and I got to see the reactions of all the kids who were part of the shoot. One highlight of this week was a celebration. On Wednesday, the curriculum department went out to lunch in honor of Lisa Clark, a member of the team and author of the popular Messengers  series from CPH. We ate at the Taco and Ice Cream Joint, which was delicious, authentic, and fun. It was nice to just "hang out" with the department and get to know people a bit better. CPH Internship Week #8: Of Pasta and PowerPoints

My time at CPH has flown by and I now only have one week left in St. Louis! I had a lot of fun this past week, though. As the VBS intern, a lot of my job has consisted of updating and changing files for next year's VBS, Miraculous Mission . I got really good at using the "find and replace" tool in Word! However, this week I got to do more with creating original files and content. Adele and I have been working on creating the PowerPoints for the song lyrics and the opening and closing sessions of VBS. This required a lot of waiting for various art files, waiting to make sure the song lyrics were proofread, and waiting for InDesign to export files. After this week, I could go years without using InDesign again and I would be happy! But really, it's been so cool to put together something that I know will be used by churches next summer. There's no business like show business! - Irving Berlin Being onstage is unlike anything else I've experienced in this world. There's something about waiting in the wings, shrouded in darkness, hushed in anticipation. About stepping into the light for the first time, projecting your voice out into the audience, telling a story. About taking a bow, feeling the sense of pride at what you have helped create in this specific moment in time. A few weeks ago, I got to experience the joy of performing for the first time in over a year and a half. I had still been involved in theatre- I had directed and assistant directed three plays in that time. But getting the chance to tell the story again myself- it was like discovering theatre all over again. Every child finds their escape. Many turn to sports, others to art, some to music.
