CPH Internship Week #3: Of Models and Missions
This week of my internship flew by! I was busy every day, doing a variety of fun tasks and really digging into my role as the VBS intern.
Every day held something new. Monday was working to reset the VBS rooms, getting ready for Tuesday. I also got to work on converting documents from this year's Splash Canyon VBS into documents for next year's Miraculous Mission. It was like a game, hunting down the things that needed to be changed and those that could stay the same. It also gave me a chance to really familiarize myself with the Bible stories, memory verses, and themes for Miraculous Mission.
On Tuesday, we had another promotional shoot. For this one, we brought in about a dozen child models - ones that had experience taking direction and being photographed and filmed. It was an adventure to say the least! Overall, the kids were wonderful and I know we got a lot of great shots, which will be really helpful as the promotional materials get put together. I just had fun sharing my love of VBS with more kids!
Wednesday was again spent at my computer, creating and changing documents for Miraculous Mission. Thursday was more exciting - we hosted a "VIP luncheon" for local church leaders in charge of VBS. They got to come to CPH, check out all of our decorations and facets of VBS 2019, and have lunch! It was so exciting to share Miraculous Mission with more people and get them excited about what is sure to be a great VBS! After the luncheon, we finally had to start taking down the decorations - I guess CPH needed its conference rooms back or something.
On Friday we continued taking down decorations, but we also got to begin pulling together pieces for the skit shoot set. We start shooting the skits next week, so we went on a bit of a treasure hunt around the building, with CPH employees temporarily donating their cutest, funkiest decorative items for the background of the skit. The director in me had a blast - it was just like finding props and set pieces for a show!
Finally, I'm super excited to be helping on two projects. Firstly, I will get to help out at rehearsals and shoots for the Song Action Videos, helping to teach the kids the songs. As many of you know, the VBS music is my favorite part, so I am stoked about this opportunity! Secondly, I am also getting to help out with putting together an adult Bible study to accompany Miraculous Mission. I think this will be a fun way to stretch my writing and editing skills in a new way.
In addition to all my work at CPH, I also got the chance to hang out with my fellow interns this week. Several of us got together to see Ocean's 8 on Tuesday and then get dinner afterwards. It was such fun to just chill out and learn more about each other. April and I attempted to go to Shakespeare in the Park this week, but unfortunately our plans were sabotaged by rain. It's still going on next week, so hopefully we will still catch a show!
Here's hoping that week four at CPH will have as many adventures as week three did!
God bless!
