CPH Internship Week #4: Of Skits and Songs

How is it possible that I have already been at CPH for four weeks?! The time has flown by, but this week was a long one.
Monday was fairly low-key this week. We finished taking down all of the decorations that had been up for the promo shoots and luncheon. I spent a lot of time carrying foam core, deflating planets, ripping up tape, and riding on elevators.
The big excitement of this week was shooting the skit videos for Miraculous Mission. I got to help put together the set for the videos. Borrowing quirky items from offices all over the building, we ended up with a funky set that's sure to intrigue next year's viewers! On Tuesday, the shooting actually began. We had two actors brought in, including one former CPH intern. Cameras, a stylist, lights, and a clapboard all made me feel like I was on a tiny movie set. While I didn't get to stay for the whole shoot, it was so fun to see a production in a different format than my usual theatre.
My other exciting activity this week was helping with rehearsals for our Song Action Videos. Eight kids, eight songs, and lots of actions to learn! While the drives through rush hour traffic weren't very fun, it was worth it to see the kids working hard to learn the actions to the (fantastic!) songs. When I'm hopefully leading music at VBS again next year, I'll be able to say that I know the kids in the videos! How cool is that?
In the office this week I did a lot of work with reformatting documents, converting VBS materials for Miraculous Mission, and writing some potential blog posts. It was fun to dig into the nitty-gritty of VBS and all of the work that goes into creating it.
I also got to catch up with my former editor at the Sower, Carolina Carpenter. April and I met her at Mission Tacos and we spent far to long talking and eating chips and salsa. I am in love with their tacos! I swear, I've had more Mexican food in St. Louis than I ever expected.
My wonderful mom and sister also got to come visit me for a few days this week. It was so refreshing to just hang out with them. They also brought me gringo dip and chocolate chip cookies, so I was a doubly happy camper.
Next week we have the shoots for the Song Action Videos! I'm so stoked to be a part of them. I really feel like I'm making an impact at CPH and every day God makes me more thankful for the opportunity to serve Him in this way.
Have a great week!
